Invoicing software for tradespeople in London

Quote the job on site, invoice it the same evening and know exactly who still owes you — wherever you're working across London.

Built for how London trades actually work

London trades juggle congestion and ULEZ charges, parking permits and a lot of leasehold flats where the managing agent, not the resident, signs off the work.

Telaro is a UK-first invoicing app: prices in pounds, VAT the way HMRC expects it, CIS deductions calculated for you, and documents that look like they came from an established firm rather than a phone note.

Common London jobs it suits

  • Flat refurbishments — quote it with itemised labour and materials, convert the accepted quote straight into an invoice without retyping a line.
  • Landlord safety certificates — quote it with itemised labour and materials, convert the accepted quote straight into an invoice without retyping a line.
  • Period property rewires — quote it with itemised labour and materials, convert the accepted quote straight into an invoice without retyping a line.

Getting paid on London jobs

Where a managing agent instructs the work, ask at the outset who is actually contracted to pay and whether they need a purchase order or property reference on the invoice. Confirming that in writing before you start avoids the invoice being returned later for a missing reference.

Worth doing: If you intend to pass on congestion charge, ULEZ or parking, agree it before the job and show each as its own line rather than absorbing it into the labour rate.

For terms and chasing, see invoice payment terms and how to get paid faster.

Questions London trades ask

Can I add congestion charge and ULEZ to a London invoice?

Only if you agreed it before the work. Set the charges out on the quote as separate lines with the daily amount, so the customer can see they are a pass-through cost rather than an increase in your rate.

How do I invoice for leasehold work instructed by an agent?

Invoice whoever is contracted to pay you — that may be the managing agent, the freeholder or the leaseholder, so confirm it in writing before starting. Ask for any reference they want quoted and put the property address on the document as well.

Do I need to be VAT registered?

No. Telaro works whether you're VAT registered or not — turn VAT off and your documents simply won't show it. If you register later, switch it on and your rate carries across every new document. See the VAT invoice guide for what a VAT invoice needs to show.

Working under CIS?

If you're subcontracting in London for a contractor, the contractor works out the CIS deduction from the payment excluding VAT and allowable actual costs, such as eligible materials and plant hire paid for directly by the subcontractor. Telaro can show the gross, the deduction and the net payable clearly on the invoice. The CIS deductions guide walks through the maths, and GOV.UK sets out the contractor's rules.
